The Ballad of Lucy Sands (TV Mini Series)
Being commissioned by director Steve Baldwin to work on an upcoming TV mini-series was a major milestone in my editing career. The series tells the tragic and compelling story of Lucy Sands, a 16-year-old girl who disappeared on her way to meet friends in Workington, Cumbria, in 1881. Trusted with editing episodes 5, 6, and 7, I worked closely with the director to help shape the pacing, emotion, and overall tone of the story. With tight deadlines and a fast turnaround required, it was an intense but incredibly rewarding experience that pushed me creatively and professionally in new ways.
What made the project especially meaningful was the level of trust placed in me during such an important stage of production. Bringing historical drama to life through editing required careful attention to atmosphere, storytelling, and emotional detail, and I was proud to contribute to a series that has already gone on to receive countless awards and recognition. Being part of a production of this scale not only strengthened my confidence as an editor but also reinforced how powerful visual storytelling can be when a talented team comes together around a compelling true story.
